This chapter discusses the colour changes that are to be expected in many materials that make up works of art, and highlights the known sensitivities of different materials to their environment, for many classes of materials that are collectable by the general public. It then gives guidance on practical ways of minimising such changes, through judicious methods of displaying and storing different types of materials.
