Abstract
The studio of John Gibson was one of the largest workshops in Rome during the artist’s lifetime, serving as both a tourist attraction and a meeting place for illustrious visitors. Surprisingly, there is no known visual documentation of it or research dedicated to the studio itself. This paper reconstructs in detail the workshop and Gibson’s business practice through the examination of source material and the analysis of contemporary literary accounts.
