Abstract
This article argues that museum studies as an academic discipline needs to take a more active approach to effecting change in the museum sector. It analyses two case studies involving museums studies students that offer models for advancing teaching, research and practice in the field, drawing upon design thinking processes and critical praxis pedagogy.
